Team
WAM planners and engineers worked as a team with Klötzli Friedli Landschaftsarchitekten, Bern (supervision) and Baugespann Architekten Kaufmann & Thuner, Bern on the test planning vision Unterlauf Wiese, Basel.
Starting Point
On the occasion of the allocation of a new concession for the Rhine hydroelectric power station Kembs, the concessionaire was obliged to provide CHF 2.1 million for the revitalisation of the meadow in the section Freiburger Hof to the mouth. In order to take account of the given urban and landscape-related context, the Construction and Traffic Department of Basel-Stadt conducted a test plan for the development of a vision for the lower reaches of the meadow.
Procedure during the test planning
The test planning process was carried out as a discursive planning process with three teams invited. The focus has been on the joint development of creative solutions. The aim of the procedure was to show suitable strategies for a future development of the underflow of the meadow. The results of the test planning serve as a basis for the further development of current and future projects in the Wiese area.
