General picture of the noise pollution
New noise abatement programs for various municipal roads in the area of Grenchen have been planned for the year 2015/16. For this noise emissions on buildings have to be evaluated along following streets:
- Central-, Schild-Rust-, Rain- Kapell- and Girardstrasse
- Jura-, Wissbächli- and Flurstrasse
- Allerheiligen-, Schmelzi-, Kirch- and Bahnhofstrasse
- Dählen- and Friedhofstrasse
- Flughafenstrasse
To achieve an overall picture of the noise pollution, the SLIP program has been used. This software enables to predict possible noise emmission while taking into account barriers (for example other buildings or walls), topography and reflections.
Approximately 200 properties have been recorded on-site. The data necessary for predicting noise then has been entered into the calculation model. The position of receiving points, assignment of buildings to sensitivity level and usage of the buildings can be reviewed through color differentiations in the 3D-view. Calibration of the model is performed by measuring emmission at selected receiving points.
To achieve a picture as accurate as possible of noise pollution in the future, traffic figures from the municipal traffic counting 2010 are projected and integrated. As only the particular information is of interest, if the emmission for a building surpasses limit values, it is displayed separately.
Study on measures and restoration project
Possible restoration measures such as speed restrictions, replacement of the current road surface, sound obstacles and further measures are being investigated within the subsequent study for measures.
